Eloquence competition

The Olivaint Conference organizes an annual competition in eloquence. About 12 students take up the challenge of defending a subject of their choice before an external jury and a wider audience. In case candidates are too numerous, a preselection is held.

In 2019, the jury, chaired by Mr R. Havaux, CEO of Bank Delen, appointed laureates:

Jean-Jacques Masquelin Award

First laureate
Maarten Hawinkel, “Pleidooi voor de matigheid”

Second laureate
BrunoTerlinden, “Echec et mat”

Third laureate, ex aequo
Maarten Ulrix, “De Toren van Babel: Archaïsche Mythe of Hedendaagse Realiteit?”
Gabriël Maroy, “Peut-on vouloir le Mal”

Audience’s favorite
BrunoTerlinden, “Echec et mat”
